To incorporate the use of information technology in the production of freshwater tilapia, the Ministry of Agriculture is in partnership with a select few producers in Indonesia to try out auto feeder technology. Unlike the traditional method where the feeding is pretty much scheduled or based on need, the usage of auto feeder technology will provide an automatic feeding mechanism once the feed has reached the threshold that has been set by the production crew. Employing this technology would allow the producers to be more efficient in the allocation of the fish feed and allow the producers to save cost as exessive feeding can be avoided. Based on the result of this experiment, the new technology would then be evaluated and would be socialized with other producers in Indonesia.
