Myanmar sugar industry suffers due to Chinese regulations

Chinese Government has set the new regulation of imported sugar, Myanmar sugar export and production have dwindled. The export volume has reduced by almost 50% and has pushed the sugarcane growers to shrink their sugarcane plantations. The sugarcane plantations have reduced by more than 20% in 2020. Te Myanmar Sugar Association has urged the government and sugar mills to find a new market in the next 2021 and improve the current situation.
