As the lockdown continues in the country, most packinghouses which are certified for packing and preparing avocados for export & domestic distribution are currently inoperative.
The few operational packinghouses are only supplying product to the USA, resulting into less supplies for the domestic market.
Currently, avocado prices have increased at 10-12 % average across the country since March 20th , and if the scenario remains prices could reach up to 50% according to estimates, as domestic consumption rate is also expanding considerably.
Still, due to the avocado scarcity, prices in the crushing industry are also rapidly shifting to higher levels, pushing avocado oil prices up as the production cost increases.
