China expects to increase imports of soybean and sunflower seed meal in 2020

China is expecting to increase soybean and sunflower meal imports to support its pork farming, in order to compensate for the shortage caused by the African Swine Fever.
China plans to up the soybean imports and to reach 92,5 million tons in 2020. On the other hand, China has imported 600 KMT of sunflower seed meal from Ukraine since the beginning of 2020 and is expected to reach 2 million tons of import from Ukraine by the end of the year. China imported 1,2 million tons of sunflower seed meal in 2019.
China's long term plan is to revive the pork farming in the country and to gradually decrease port imports which have already seen an increase of almost 33% compared to last year.
