In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, and being one of the most affected countries in Latin-America, Ecuador has managed to continue shipping bananas, one of the key exports of the country. The rhythm of the exports, however, has decreased, mainly to the situation in purchasing countries --mostly European-- in which lockdown and transportation restriction are causing logistic issues and a high level of uncertainty that are driving the demand down, reaching a 30% decrease according to an estimation of Acorbanec, the association of Ecuadorian banana exporters.
