Sweet cherry at retailers in Turkey still high, more harvest volumes expected for accessible prices

Sweet cherry grown in Lapseki, Canakkale became an important export product in recent years with an export volume of 4 kmt. Main export destinations for these sweet cherries are Russia, Germany, the United Kingdom and Ukraine.

The sweet cherry production area in the district is around 850 hectares and the annual production volume ranges between 7 and 10 kmt. Currently the price is around 3 USD per kg at retail.
