Ukrainian farmers increase buckwheat production in 2020 due to significant demand

Increasing demand and declining stocks are motivating farmers to grow buckwheat areas. Buckwheat area is projected to grow in 2020 to 140000 hectares. The quarantine caused by the coronavirus has led to increased consumer demand for long-term storage products, including buckwheat. Buckwheat stocks are gradually declining at storage and processing companies. As of March 1, they amounted to 15 KMT, which is 12% less than a month ago and 21% less than on the same date last year.
