Turkish currant and apple growers in Gulnur district of Mersin experience major product losses due to the unexpected frost. The district is responsible for 75% of Turkey's black currant production.

The frost is the latest event in a series of weather conditions that hurt the growers. The growers note that they have experienced 5 storms and frosts this season and lost a majority of their products. The farmers are waiting for the government to offer a helping hand and to at least postpone their overdue bank loans to state banks to the next year.
