The demand for rice imports in Senegal or other African countries is expected to increase significantly. In February, a grasshopper (locust) outbreak in East Africa severely damaged rice crops. Due to the damaged crops such as rice, more and more countries in East Africa are relying on imports. Senegal is one of the countries with a large volume of rice imported from Vietnam, so this will be an opportunity for Vietnamese exporters to increase their market share in the region. However, Vietnamese exporters will face stiff competition from other countries such as India, Pakistan, Thailand, and China.
