Since 2016, the consumption of wheat in Malaysia has surpassed the consumption of rice as a staple food. However, since the country is not suitable for wheat cultivation, that is why Malaysian government import 100% of wheat from abroad. That emerging trend may affect local rice farmers and rice industry in long run.
