Production of cash crops such as cocoa bean, oil palm and rubber is very common in the South Western region of Ghana. In recent years, palm oil farmers are voluntarily clearing their oil palm plantations to plant rubber. This can be attributed to the aging group involved in palm oil production, the ease of rubber cultivation which is more economically rewarding and less involving in terms of input and labor cost.
