Papaya - easy to grow but fast ripening process

The papaya fruit of Malaysia is not seasonal and can produce fruit 9 months after planting. Therefore the supply for papaya is not diminished as it is always producing. But papaya packaging is often different for the domestic and oversea markets because it easily ripes. Usually in Malaysia, papaya is packed into plastic baskets or bamboo baskets and lined with newspapers or banana leaves for the local market. For overseas markets, the fruit is packed into corrugated fiberboard boxes so that it is durable and suitable for shipping.
