Domestic demand for sunflower oil far surpasses domestic production in Australia

Australia produces 30,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds annually and the domestic demand for sunflower oil is double that amount, which means Australia imports a large amount of sunflower oil. As such, export opportunities for Australian sunflower oil are very rare due to low supply. Importers of Australian sunflower oil would have to pay premium prices due to the high quality and low supply.
