Suppliers are substituting sorghum cultivation for maize due increased production costs.

For the two previous harvest seasons for maize and sorghum which occur in Spring through summer, sorghum suppliers have suffered from increased cost of inputs including seeds, and the the same time making losses from their harvests.
As a result, sorghum suppliers are switching to producing maize since the costs of production is relatively low.
