The decision by the government of Indonesia to suspend all air travels for both commercial and cargo flights until the end of June 2020 due to the COVID pandemic has created delays in the distribution of imported fruits such as Chinese pear and lemons to the eastern part of Indonesia. These imported fruits were already delivered to the warehouses of the local importers before the decision was passed on, and now, the importers are forced to change their distribution method by sea freight. Still, the change of distribution method is not expected to affect the price of the aforementioned commodities, and will only affect the lead-time for them to arrive in the final destination.
