With squid season now in full swing on Malaysia's east coast, dumping squid in the country's waters has become a staple source for Vietnamese fishermen who invade the country and steal the seafood to bring it their market. Malaysian waters, which also have the advantage that there are many oil rigs that are becoming a breeding centre for quality seafood including this squid, face illegal fishermen every time it is squid season. It is feared that Malaysian fishermen, if not contained, will cause problems because illegal fishermen often use trawls that damage the ecosystem at sea.
