The port congestion in the major ports in Indonesia such as Port Priok in Jakarta and Tanjung Perak in Surabaya, due to additional inspection procedures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, have forced some of the fruit importers in Indonesia to transport their imports by air. The delivery time by air is much faster than by sea and the inspection procedure or health check through airport authority is considerably faster compared to the one on the port. The importer of lemon, for example, receives the fruit by air from Turkey in order to respond to the apparent demand of this fruit from the local market. Despite the additional delivery cost that must be paid by the importers to transport the commodity by air, they are still able to keep the price stable as the price of lemon on the global scale is also stable.
