To maintain stable domestic supply of staple food items in India, all pulses and lentils exports are being monitored and even discouraged by the government.

Also, the prices of staple food items in India are also rising due to:
1, Wholesale mandis were closed for COVID 19 lockdown, therefore regular supply to stockists and traders from these wholesale markets could not happen for the past 2 months.
2. High demand from local consumers as lockdown is slowly being lifted throughout the country.
