Lower watermelon yields expected this season

Watermelon harvest in Bulgaria has started and the growers are expecting a lower yield. The yield is expected to fall down by 27% with the total volume of 1,683 kg per 1000 square meters. Total land of 46 million square meters is allocated for watermelon production in Bulgaria and the retail price in open markets is approximately 0.30 - €0.35 per kg.
