This week, the first export of king cobia fish to Taiwan from Indonesia was successfully done by a group of exporters in Pangandaran Regency in the West Java province. This first shipment was around 20 MT and was sent directly from the Patimban fishing port and with the destination of Port Kaohsiung in Taiwan. King Kobia fish has now become a go-to alternative to salmon by consumers in Taiwan due to its identical taste to salmon and the nutritional value that is almost on par with salmon. Following the successful first export to Taiwan, the exporters of king cobia are expecting export another batch in the third and fourth quarter of 2020 respectively, as well as expanding the market to other Eastern Asian countries namely South Korea and Hong Kong.
