The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has launched an online platform to help FIlipino fishermen sell goods during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of the goods being sold are marine products as there are no transactions being done face-to-face due to the lockdown implemented in some areas in the country. Demand for shrimp and prawn are high but there is difficulty in exporting the products due to some government regulations in place. Although the Department of Agriculture has promised to help boost export sales, the fishermen are still struggling as businesses in areas where they have ponds, are still not allowed to operate due to the increase of the number of those affected by covid-19.
