The price of tomato is rising across Nigeria as the Tuta Absoluta pest ravages farms and destroys tomatoes in the Northern part of the country. The tomato shortage caused by the outbreak have caused the increase in price.
The virus manifested around April, which was the end of the tomato season except for some varieties which are still in production.
Its outbreak was first reported in two West Africa countries, Niger and Senegal, before its attack on Nigeria tomatoes.
