Uganda fruits and vegetable exports to suffer severely from the 21 days lockdown extension due to COVID-19

President Yoweri Museveni has announced that Uganda’s lockdown will be extended for another 21 days (three weeks). The 21-day lockdown extension runs till May 5 and as a result, Uganda's fresh fruits and vegetable exporters are suffering severely due to the extension of the lockdown.

Measures have come in place as fruits harvesting season kicks in, and movement restrictions are hindering the collection of products from the farms and most of the countries they export to have closed their borders. Apparently the containers which the exporters used are those which came with imports, now affected by the drop in imports making transportation even harder.
