Following the reopening of the trade channel for spices between Indonesia and Egypt, the Indonesian exporters and the trade representative of Indonesia in Cairo are once again trying to promote nutmeg and mace to the Egyptian buyers to maximize the remaining of 2020 to make up for the lost business opportunity in the first half of 2020. The first half 2020 saw a significant decrease in the export of mace and nutmeg from Indonesia to Egypt where the national exporters could only ship around 40 MT, in comparison to last year where the export volume reached the level of 125 MT during the same period. Up until now, Indonesia is still the biggest exporter of spices, especially mace and nutmeg to Egypt, with annual export volume at around 200 MT since 2018.
