The boats leave the Rawson port, and are achieving very good quality catches, both in size and in fat concentration. Taking into account that up to 7 grams per 100 grams of anchovy is acceptable, laboratory tests indicate that Patagonian anchovies have 6.3 grams of fat.
In addition, the fish are very good size. Catches are between 32 and 44 pieces per kilo, which is an optimal size for what the industry requires.
With good catches being achieved in provincial waters, there is still the possibility of continuing to fish in national waters.
