The heavy rainfall in the western part of Indonesia in the last 3 weeks of March has decreased the overall production of anchovy in the region. Smallholder fishermen in Lampung province, in particular, have been hit the hardest by the weather issue, as their production dipped drastically from 700 Kg/day to 100 Kg/day. Most of the fishermen in the area claimed that the bad weather prevented them from resuming their normal fishing activities. This decreasing supply has also caused the price of this commodity in the province to go up slightly to IDR 100.000/Kg, from the normal price at IDR 90.000/Kg.
