Food and agricultural product prices increase in Turkey despite the opposing trend in the world

Turkish food and agricultural product prices keep increasing due to the Covid19 outbreak despite the decrease in prices globally as most of the production costs are tied to imported goods. Sugar prices went up between 0.3 and 3.7% in March compared to the previous month whereas the price of sugar went down by 19% globally in March.

The price of milk products has also gone down by 3% globally whilst it increased in Turkey between 0.4 and 5%. Similarly, meat products have increased by 5 to 6.2% in price in Turkey. Vegetable oil prices also went up between 0.2 to 2.6% in March.
