In Indonesia, the demand for frozen processed chicken and ground beef in the past two weeks has shown an upward trajectory. In big cities such as Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya, most consumers are shifting to processed meats such as packaged chicken nuggets and canned ground beef, as purchasing fresh chicken meat and fresh beef has become more difficult due to port congestions in major ports of Indonesia. Moreover, these packed meat products are seen to be more practical and more storable in the current climate with the Coronavirus epidemic. Responding to this rising demand, the majority of manufacturers estimated that their current production capacity and the existing stock would be enough to supply the demand from the national consumers for the next two months, despite the fact that they currently are not able to produce at the maximum level due to the social distancing effort.
