The harvest season of watermelon has gradually began in Ghana.
The main production area is Ada West District which is also known for tomato production and farmers are expecting a bumper harvest despite the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.
A favorable weather pattern and the decision of the government to invest in watermelon processing facility to reduce the amount of wastage caused by a lack of proper cold storage technology in production areas are some of the reason for increased production.
