At the fruit and vegetable wholesaler market in Casablanca, the price of fruit and vegetables has increased significantly.
Wholesalers claim that the prices raised for the vegetables that are most in-demand by customers, a trend that is likely to continue until the next Ramadan.
The price of onions has increased from 1.50 dirhams to 5 dirhams or even 6 dirhams so as for tomatoes, the price of a box which was established at 40 dirhams, is now negotiated up to 150 dirhams.
Peppers are also affected: previously traded for 2.50 dirhams per kg, their price is currently set at 7 dirhams.
