The Ministry of Health Malaysia has been monitoring the canned fish products (sardines and mackerel) imported as well as in the local market. This is to make sure there are no worms in the fish cans. MOH emphasized that any brand in the event of a worm would be directed to retract all canned fish production in Malaysia. For imported canned fish, MOH will carry out tests to ensure that they are safe and free of worms. Previously, there were cases where worms were found in a can of fish sauce sold in Malaysia.
