Argentina produces peanut, whose quality (after being submitted to a microbiological analysis) complies with EU requirements, while China and India's (also big producers) production do not reach the same EU consumption standard. This situation leaves the EU market out of those countries' reach, so they are obliged to search for other (and usually at lower premiums) markets. The afore mentioned circumstances, lead SEA buyers for example to massively source peanuts from Africa, China or India, as they usually find Argentina's prices too high.
