The local government of Banten regency in West Java, Indonesia is currently working together with the smallholder farmer association to utilize the plantation land in the higher ground for the production of vegetables such as carrot and potato. In order to improve the overall production output of vegetables from this province, the local government recently acquired this land. This land, which is situated at 700 meters above sea level, is considered to be ideal for the production of carrots and potatoes as these vegetables thrive in the cold weather and require ample water supply. West Java province, in general, has a high intensity of rainfall and thus is highly suitable for potato and carrot production.
