Every monsoon season, the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) enforces export restrictions between the 1st day of January to the last day of February on the fish species such as mackerel, pomfret, shrimp, prawn, etc which are especially popular in China as well. This is an initiative of Malaysian government to ensure the sufficient supply of fish species in the country's market.
