Bulgarian sweet cherry growers are expecting very promising production yield in terms of quantity and quality. During the month of April, there have been a few worrying cases with rains and hails and the growers are cautious about the possibility of hails hitting the fruits right during the harvest season. Hails badly affect the visual appearance of sweet cherries by damaging the fruit thus, lowering the quality features. Under favorable weather conditions, growers expect to have a yield of 1.5 tons per decare. On the other hand, the retail market prices the sweet cherry vary between €0,35-€1,20 per kg while the prices in the capital Sofia go up to €2-2.50 per kg.
