The demand local for quail eggs in Indonesia is very high. The egg suppliers are relying on importing quail eggs from other countries like India and Pakistan.
In the first two quarters of 2020, Indonesia recorded that the demand for quail eggs had reached 8 MMT. Approximately 80% of this demanded was sourced from overseas. The heavy dependence on the imported quail eggs is primarily attributed to the low productivity by the local quail egg producers. The current production output is only around 4 MMT annually, which is below the annual local demand for this commodity.
