Malaysian Import more Sugar from India

Sugar importers from Malaysia previously were dependent on Brazil mostly due to the political rift between India-Malaysia. However, they have started importing sugar from India once again. Another reason for selecting Brazil over India was the 2019 drought in India. Previously in 2019, Indian crude sugar production is reported to be slower due to the dry weather. However, for the fiscal year 2020 - 2021, Indian production is expected to recover due to increased rainfall in the state of Maharashtra and therefore suppliers are returning to Indian sugar exporters since India is closer to Malaysia.
