Iran has been keeping more than 120 KMT of contaminated corn waiting in a cargo ship for about a year. The country was planning to exterminate the stocks of corn imported from Brazil due to the fact that it couldn't be used either as feed or food. However, the government decided to use the contaminated products in the production of ethanol as the demand for alcohol-based products such as disinfectants due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
