Indonesia imports a rare strawberry variety, Ichigo white strawberry, from Japan

Fruit importers in Indonesia have been trying to promote an imported strawberry variety from Japan called Ichigo white strawberry to the domestic market. Unlike most strawberry varieties, Ichigo white has white skin and white flesh and has a softer texture. This variety was imported from Fukuoka and Shizuoka prefecture and in order to source this variety, importers need to order it even before the harvest season due to its currently limited production output and rising demand. Moreover, despite the keen interest of the local consumers on this strawberry variety, at this point, this variety can only be afforded by a very niche consumer segment, because of its rather premium price at IDR 200.000/Kg.
