In the first quarter of 2020, Vietnam has had a trade deficit of 1.21 billion USD of imported meat products. During this period, the main meat exporters to Vietnam were Australia, India, USA, Thailand, and Canada. Most imported items were live buffaloes and cows (increase about 103%), frozen beef (increase 89%), and fresh and frozen chicken (increase 50%). In addition to importing meat and meat products for consumption, Vietnam has also spent billions of dollars to import corn, soybeans, wheat for feed and inputs materials for domestic livestock production.
