A number of local farmers in West Java province are currently trying to produce mushroom by combining the greenhouse method and planting the seed on coconut peat as opposed to using soil as the plantation media. Coconut peat is chosen as it has better adaptability to the change in temperature, hence making it easier to adjust the room temperature within the greenhouse, which can optimize the growth of the mushroom. Aside from that, coconut peat was also chosen as the substitute for soil as it can absorb more water and contain it much longer. This enables the farmers to be more efficient when it comes to the production cost of the mushroom. The early stage of the production season was started in early July 2020 and the harvest season is expected to take place around October 2020.
