Imported products often cheaper than local produce

Fruit and vegetables that are imported more cheaply than domestic products raise the question of the reason for the price differences. This is due to the fact that the retail prices of local agricultural production are up to 300% when compared to the farmers' original prices when it comes to consumers. This is due to the long distribution chain, which has led to an increase in local supply prices. For example, cucumber was sold at 80 cents/kg, but rose to RM3/kg when it came to end consumers. For this reason, traders and suppliers prefer to import only, rather than buying the stock from local farmers
