Coconut water prices in Riau province stable despite surging Ramadan demand due to abundant supply

Unlike the other provinces in Indonesia where the price of coconut water has been high during the month of Ramadhan, the price of coconut water in Riau province has remained stable since early May 2020. The price of coconut water in the province has been floating at IDR 4000-5000/Liter compared to other regions in Indonesia where the average of coconut water at the retailer level has been at IDR 7000-8000/Liter. Some sellers pointed out that they cannot sell their commodity at any higher price as this province is the biggest producing-region of coconut in Indonesia, hence making the supply of coconut is at an abundant level and has been able to drive the price of coconut-based products to stay competitive.
