Enterprises are carrying out procedures to import porks from Thailand to propagate for re-herding and to increase pig herds. The pigs will enter Vietnam through the border gate and then transferred to the isolation camps for 30 days before being taken to the slaughterhouse. It is expected that in June there will be the first batch of live pigs imported from Thailand as the two countries have agreed on export/import procedures. The price of Thai pig imports is highly affordable: purchasing the pigs at the border gate will cost about 2.58 USD / kg.
