The demand for packaged fruits and vegetables continues to increase due to the health crisis.
The coronavirus has brought about significant changes in purchasing behaviour around the world. Consumer concerns about food safety appear to have overtaken the recent trend with greater environmental sustainability in the aisles of agricultural produce.
Before Covid-19, consumers were extremely wary of packaging and preferred less. The consumption patterns were relatively simple. But that has practically changed. Indeed, in several countries, like Morocco, UAE and Saudi Arabia the demand for packaged fruits and vegetables continues to increase. In Scandinavia, for example, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, more hygienically appropriate packaging is becoming increasingly important as the demand for unpackaged fruit and vegetables has decreased by at least 50%.
