Cloves and cashew nuts from Flores province have recorded a noteworthy growth in terms of export volume in the second quarter of 2020, despite the slowing down of overall export from this province amid the coronavirus pandemic. The export volume of clove has grown to the level of 101 MT while the cashew nuts grew to 115 MT. This is considered a quite significant increase compared to the previous year's record during the same period at 80 MT and 100 MT, respectively. For clove, in particular, the exporters from this province managed to open a new market to Saudi Arabia where this commodity is not only used as the ingredient to make cigarettes, but also an ingredient for various cosmetics and medicines.
