Due to the limited availability of meat processing facilities that meet safety standards needed for export, lack of necessary veterinary services, and the absence of a reliable supply of high-quality livestock, Ethiopian meat processors and exporters are struggling to supply meat products to their international buyers. Some of the suppliers are improving their meat processing facilities to meet the export standards while other meat exporters are shifting their business to other sectors or even going out of business.
