The Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) has made Durian one of the industrial sectors among the New Resources and estimates the country's exports at around RM 500 million per year. The reason for this is that the growing demand for Durian exports can also contribute to the economy and generate income for Malaysia while boosting the country's agricultural sector. Compared to other countries that also produce durian in the region, Durian Malaysia is one of the best in the world, which has led to very high demand in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Since 2005, more than 1500 tons of Musang King and Blackthorn Durian have been exported to overseas markets.
