After an initial surge in fresh produce sales at the retail level through the beginning of March, demand has pulled back significantly. Coronavirus concerns caused consumers to panic-buy and stock up on fruits and vegetables as fears peaked in the first half of March, but multiple suppliers have reported a decrease in demand through the end of March and beginning of April. Suppliers remain uncertain on the longer-term effects on demand and prices as the length of social distancing and lockdown measures remain unknown.
