According to the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia, grain cultivars reached a record-breaking harvest in the country (50.7 ql. / ha avg) in 2019, being the 2nd highest yield in the national history. In the year of 2015, a 53.5 ql./ha harvest had been reported.

Production surge can be explained by the share increase of winter cereals in total. Going from 35.4% reported in the previous year to 58.8% in 2019, accounting for 2.2M tonnes of grains. 62.0 % of that volume refers to wheat , where almost 40% is harvested from Zemgale region.

Latvia main destinations to 82% of all its cereal products exported was Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and Turkey . Responding for wheat and meslin demands.
